Final Chapter – Universe Guardian

Sparks of yellow energy waves shot out of the portal hole when Nippy and the Universe Guardian appeared for their very first mission to make sure the events of The Author’s War goes ahead without failing. Nippy cruised along the planet that seemed heavily populated filled of cities. Fyn noticed where they needed to land where the Matrix Champions headquarters was found close by. They slowly started to land as security guards started to watch them. They circled Nippy as it landed on a mat where it looked like spaceships were a regular thing for this area.  Fyn came outside and laser rifles were pointed at him and he put his hands, “Oh I’m sorry. Wasn’t I meant to park here or not?” he asked with his hands shaking. Their leader came down eyeing off Fyn and Nippy and waved down their weapons. He was strong tall male with black buzz cut hair. He was in uniform as was the others. “Who are you and how did you get into our planet?” he asked him.

Fyn put his arms down and walked forward, “I’m here to help return your planet back to where it belongs. I came here through a universe portal because the planet has been taken away and thrown into a damaged universe. I believe there’s not much time left,” Fyn explained to him. “I’m not sure if you can help us but your information is spot on and it’s highly classified. I’ll take you to our Chief Commander,” he replied waving Fyn to follow him. Nippy stayed put and went into a sleep mode like lt scared of the new area he was in. Fyn past many security guards and soldiers on his way to meet the Chief Commander. As they went towards the doors to the main meeting room a large earthquake shook up the area. Fyn jumped at the feel of it and held on to the side wall as the male turned away, “Name’s Commander Beman Yellowstone. These earthquakes are happening because of that,” he called out pointing at the skies. Fyn’s anxiety took over him as he saw the familiar space dragon flying around above the planet. It’s silver glow shone around it and it watched over the planet towards the top range view of the planet’s imprisonment in the dying universe. Commander Yellowstone came to the doors but was struggling to open it. “It’s not accepting my eye as a scan. There could be internal damage to it,” he noted. Fyn came up to it, nodded and pulled out a device the size of a business card. On it it had strange small glowing eyes on it like a toy. He placed it near the eye scanner and the card with the eyes on it started to spin. The doors popped open with ease and the Commander looked at him impressed, “Oh this little thing helps break open doors. It’s quite handy when you have and it’s small too!” he explained. “Why does it look like a children’s toy?” Commander Yellowstone asked him. “Well if I’m captured by someone like your security team downstairs they wouldn’t think much of it and throw it out or let me keep it,” Fyn answered. The Commander wasn’t sure what to make of him, “Clever in a weird way.”

They entered into a room filled with soldiers and the Chief Commander looking over the naps of the planet, “Madam, we have found a visitor who seems to know about our problem with the planet being stolen away from the unknown dragon up in the skies.” The woman looked at Fyn and Fyn rubbed his forehead looking very nervous. “You don’t seem to someone who would much about this issue at all. As Chief Commander Adira Smith I order you to take him away. I won’t be dealing with this person or whatever information he might have.” Commander Yellowstone turned to Fyn and Fyn begged not to go. “Please I have to be here. I was chosen to be the Universe Guardian and this is like my first day on the job.” Chief Commander Smith tossed her head at Fyn’s request. “I do know my history with the idea of the Universe Guardian and you are surely not that person. The position was spoken of but no one ever created it. I’ve seen the cameras of your ship and it looks like a clown ship. You are just a gatecrasher who got lucky,” she firmly told him.

“I don’t want to be bullied like I was in my last job and I won’t in this one ok?” Fyn said trying to be brave. “You are just a strange young man with a even stranger spaceship outside my quarters and I’m here to try to save my planet so just leave now,” she shouted at him. Fyn clenched his fists trying to build up the strength at a important moment. “What will it take for you to believe me? I’m not just a normal person anymore. They picked me to do this and I never asked for it.” As he was speaking he pointed at the Chief Commander but he didn’t noticed his hands were glowing white dust again  Smith and Yellowstone stepped back as behind Fyn was flashes of the spiritual guardians Ises and Heva appeared behind him. He noticed his hands and put them down and he spun around saw their flashing images turned back. There was deathly silence in the room. “Do you believe me now?” he asked. Chief Commander Smith nodded, “I believe you have enough proof that we needed. They would never show their faces like that in trivial matters. It seems for some reason they made you the Universe Guardian. Now come and have a look at this.” Fyn looked over a table with the interactive map of the planet where the silver dragon was basing itself, “For some reason he is circling  around the top section but we don’t know why. Our suggestion is that he is protecting something”

Fyn thought about the problem and pulled out his calling call phone, “Nippy can you go for a trip to the sky and do a scan of things? I’m looking for a weak point,” he asked his spaceship. Commander Yellowstone stood next to him, “You believe it’s a weak point to what?” he asked. “You see you I think are supposed to be helping to go time travel for The Author’s War. Am I right?” Fyn asked back. Chief Commander Smith spoke, “That is correct and you know of the war?” “Yes I do but the silver dragon in the sky is part of a effect to prevent you from the helping and winning the war. Well that’s what happens in the timeline. The dragon is just servant of what is causing The Author’s War. I think if we target the weak point with something then just a opened bottle the planet will return back to it’s original state,” Fyn said. The calling card phone flashed and Fyn looked at the data Nippy provided him, “Well I was right – see? The dragon is a tough part. He nearly Nippy out of the sky with only two beams. I don’t know what to do with it.”

“Chief Commander Smith, if we send our forces up there and held this dragon off we could give Fyn time to do what he needs to do.” “I’ll allow it to happen. Send up the best thirty fighter ships we have up there. Fyn, do you know what you need to do?” she asked him. “I don’t really know to be honest but I’ll work it out. Figuring out how to do things is one of my rare talents. My only talent really. I’ll go down to Nippy now. Thank you!” he said as he made his way outside of the meeting room. “Commander Yellowstone. Make sure he is protected. I don’t want to be person known by the spiritual guardians who let their new protector be defeated. I’ll know you will do well.” Commander Yellowstone nodded, “Yes Madam” and he walked out and into battle.

The Universe Guardian jogged down the stairs where Nippy just stationed himself after scanning the outside of the planet’s imprisonment cage. Fyn climbed into Nippy and came to the driver’s seats. Ne noticed a range of fighter ships flying above him. They were small and quick that left a orange stream of smoke behind them. They sworn around the skies with fast speeds and Nippy seemed keen to go up to them, “Alright Nippy let’s go up there and find out what needs to be done.” Nippy gave a few happy buzzing noises, turned on the engines and flew up to greet the fighter ships in the air.  Nippy searched through the air towards the weak point of the bubble that was trapping the planet inside the dying universe The silver dragon spotted Nippy and unleashed a powerful beam towards him. Nippy dodged quickly glowed a white screen on his front. “I remember you have the same problem like me with the glowing white hands. Nippy, if you can blast that weak point we can do it. Yeah let’s try that one!” Fyn suggested shrugging his shoulders. Nippy’s symbol eyes turned white and shot a ray of beams towards the weak point of the barrier. Some of the barrier was chipped away but nothing else. Nippy flew around it in circles as Fyn was wondering on what to do next. Nippy got a surprised and dodged four fighter ships falling to the ground as the silver dragon stood below Nippy and Fyn eyeing them off.

“Universe Guardian calling in to your radio. This is Commander Yellowstone. I’m afraid over 20 of our fighter ships have gone down and I’m trying to send more ships from where I am from the ground. You might have to do this all by yourself. Have you tried using your own powers? I don’t know what they do but use whatever you have. Because we are nearly out of options here. We are dealing with something far more powerful than we had expected.” the radio message cut out when the dragon shot it’s tail and smashed Nippy from the side. His symbol eyes turned red and flipping around in space. Fyn tried his hardest to keep the steering wheel balanced. “Nippy turn away and blast him when I say so. Auto pilot for me. I’m going to do something crazy,” Fyn told him. He clicked a button and the side door opened up. Fyn walked over and took a step out into space without a spacesuit on.

Down on the ground the Chief Commander Smith arrived looking at the screen panels capturing the Universe Guardian’s every move. “Report on the mission Yellowstone?” she asked him. “No fighter ships are in combat. All have been damaged by the silver dragon in the sky.” “What’s the report on Fyn. Is he holding up?” “He’s currently standing outside of his ship” Chief Commander Smith looked at the screens worried, “What is he doing? How is he able to breathe in space?”

Fyn took a breathe but nothing came out of him, “This white dust is almost like I’m part of the universe and that because I’m the Universe Guardian I can bend and change certain things in space with my mind. I just don’t know if I can do this. I really hope they picked the right person for this job?” he wondered to himself.  He climbed up the side of the spaceship of Nippy and made it to the top. He stretched out his hand towards the barrier Nippy gave a white beam of rays towards the silver dragon and moved slowly to keep it away from Fyn. He dropped to his knees as his panicked about what he needed to do. “I really don’t need to get nervous right now but I must stay strong.” He walked around on his hands and feet trying to find the courage and saw Nippy’s love heart symbols flashing in between the shots he was giving to the silver dragon. They both exchanged beams of powers at each other. He stood up thinking of Nippy and the spiritual guardians and how they felt about him. He watch Nippy growing tired of battling the silver dragon by himself and his flight was dipping in space and he turned around to the barrier “They believed in me and so must I!” he shouted reaching out his hand glowing white dust unleashing a beam of energy toward the barrier. He took some small steps forward intensifying it’s aim. The barrier begun to break apart as the silver dragon  leaped above Nippy towards Fyn and he broke through the last pieces of the barrier breaking it open and the planet, Nippy and Fyn disappeared from the dying universe. The silver dragon roared in anger disappointing from the dying universe as it started to fold in on it self. “I shall meet you again..” it spoke softly as it vanished from outer space and existence

The planet reappeared back in it’s own position in the same universe as Earth but many many light years away from it. Fyn dazed around the top of Nippy and fell on his back as Nippy quickly guided him away from space and headed for the Matrix Champions site. Nippy shot through the air and found the landing bay where they were before and Commander Yellowstone rushed up to the top of Nippy by climbing on his wings to get a hold of Fyn, “Come here, let us look after you. You are not well” Chief Commander Smith turned to her soldiers who were lined up along the landing bay, “Make sure Fyn is escorted to the medical room at once. Check on this spaceship’s damage and refuel it’s fuel tanks. I want a full report into this issue and where the silver dragon has gone to. I’ll be in my meeting room if you need me” she ordered them.

Inside the medical rooms stood Commander Yellowstone by Fyn’s side as Fyn woke up and looked around, “We did it did we?” he asked confused and dazed. “Yes you did it and thanks to you the planet is save and back where it belongs. Your injuries are better than expected but some tests suggested you might have fallen into a coma,” he noted. Fyn nodded to himself, “That was the warning that Heva told me about. Well either one of the two I don’t remember now. Oh Nippy helped me back there and I wouldn’t have made it without him. That’s why they brought him back to life. Is he ok?” he asked worried. “We weren’t sure how your spaceship was designed nor could we find a fuel tank until it alerted us that took in food instead. Some rather large food treats were given to him and now he seems quite happy,.” “That does sound like him!” The Commander nodded “When you can walk, the Chief Commander wants to see you before you leave us.” he said. Fyn smiled and he left the room. He felt still too tired to move and decided to have a sleep.

It was in the early morning when Fyn was ready to leave the Matrix Champions planet. and he was in the official desk room where Chief Commander Smith was sitting at her desk. Fyn and Commander Yellowstone stood next to each other. Fyn kept his hands together while shaking in his boots as to what was going to happen. “I like to thank you for your services today. You saved a entire planet by yourself and in a short amount of time. I was too harsh on you in the beginning but a story becoming the Universe Guardian was quite far fetched don’t you think for most people to understand?” she asked him. “Well I don’t really believe it myself at times,” “You are still new at this and I feel seeming the events of The Author’s War will go smoothly your future missions has bee written yet and so we don’t know how well you will go. I am partnering you up with Commander Yellowstone on matters to do with our planet and possible other universes. I believe you will need some guidance in combat and how to handle yourself. Commander Yellowstone is the best we have and is why he will be using our time travel on this rare moment to protect our past, present and future. We do not like to interfere with other worlds but I feel with your position we have that right and to exercise that when it it truly needed. Commander are you happy with that?” she asked him. Yellowstone didn’t seemed so thrilled to be paired up with a rookie in terms of missions and combat. “I will do my best with Fyn,” giving a slight disappointing look on his face.

“This sounds great. I can do with some sort of teaching person like Commander Yellowstone. You know they never gave me training when I did the night packing job at my local department store,” Fyn explained to the pair. “That resume must be the thing you got you the job to protect multi universes,” murmured Commander Yellowstone.  “It’s settled. You can go home and catch up on things on Earth. I have read up there’s quite a few interesting characters looking after your planet.” Chief Commander Smith commented. “I guess so. Well time for me to go. I’ll see you soon but I gotta rush because my two friends are watering the plants for me,” he said waving goodbye and dashing out of the room quickly. “Did you really want me to be assigned to him. A rookie who has large amounts of uncontrolled powers?” Commander Yellowstone asked his boss. Chief Commander Smith smiled, “You two might learn alot from each other and it might surprise you. Go and get some rest, you are human too,” she replied with a raised eyebrow. Commander Yellowstone rolled his eyes and left the room. Fyn was reunited with Nippy as he tapped his spaceship, “Let’s go home Nippy. Wait until I tell Vincent and Doug what happened here and I have a new job. Not bad hey?” he cried happily. He headed off inside Nippy to the driver’s seat and Nippy flew up into the air and headed into outer space – back to where he belonged – home.
